About the Course
This whole school training is aimed at Year 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 teachers, TAs and English leaders. Please allow up to 1 hour (to allow for discussion) to complete this training. Too often we expect children to become independent in tasks without showing them how to become independent. The EEF guidance report advocates a gradual release of responsibility which can be applied to each stage of the writing process, including editing. In order for children to become independent, effective editors, direct teaching of editing is needed. This session will: -Examine how to use Editing Stations effectively to raise standards. -Explore practical strategies for making the most of editing time in your classroom. -Discuss the language of critique and how to develop children’s skills as editing partners.
