Improving Sentence Construction in Reception and  Primary: 3rd February 2026 4pm - 5pm

It is aimed at all Primary teachers and Teaching Assistants as well as Reception teachers who want to improve sentence construction in their classrooms.  English Leaders are also welcome to join us. In this session we will reflect on the guidance from the DfE re successful teaching of sentence construction (The writing framework 2025) but we also draw upon the range of research evidence available to examine: - The importance of spoken language for improving pupils' sentence construction. - Practical strategies for improving oral and written sentence construction. This session will provide teachers with concrete approaches which will impact directly on pupils' sentence construction in the primary classroom.
