Phonics in Practice: Strengthening Teaching, Consistency and Impact A practical phonics training course for teachers using the Smart Kids Systematic Synthetic Phonics (SSP) programme: The Code and Grow the Code eLearning platform (validated by the UK Department of Education). High-quality phonics teaching is the foundation of successful early reading. This course supports teachers, teaching assistants and English leaders to strengthen the quality, consistency and impact of phonics teaching across the school. Through three focused modules, participants deepen their understanding of how children learn to read, strengthen their phonics subject knowledge, and refine classroom practice to deliver effective, systematic phonics lessons every day. Combining research-informed guidance, practical classroom strategies and programme-specific support, this course helps schools maximise the impact of their Smart Kids SSP phonics provision.  Who This Course Is For This phonics CPD course is ideal for: * Reception and Key Stage 1 teachers (ages 4–7) * Teaching assistants delivering phonics sessions * Phonics leads and English leaders * Schools using the Smart Kids SSP programme: The Code or Grow the Code What This Phonics Training Course Covers Participants explore the key knowledge and practical strategies needed to deliver high-quality systematic synthetic phonics teaching and early reading instruction.
