About the Course

Join us for our Spring Term English Leader Briefing aimed at Primary Head teachers and English Leaders. Book a place and receive a recording if you can't make a live date. In this live 1 hour session we will: - Reflect on the Primary English Curriculum in light of the recent Department of Education's Curriculum and Assessment Review: Building a world-class curriculum for all. - Explore Drama to Inspire Writing: Numerous research studies suggest that incorporating pre-writing drama activities significantly improves pupils’ writing. This improvement stems from increased motivation as well as deeper understanding of concepts (e.g. enhanced character and situational understanding). Embedding drama into classroom practice can impact powerfully on pupil engagement, providing opportunities for idea generation and oral rehearsal of language. However, the quality of the drama activities that pupils engage in make a difference to writing outcomes. Effective drama involves modelling, scaffolding and high expectations. We will consider how key drama techniques used well can be a highly effective way of supporting and inspiring writing in the primary classroom. - Important Dates for the English Diary. Join us to gain valuable insights to enhance your role and impact as primary English Leaders!
