About the Course
This training session is designed for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 teachers and Teaching Assistants. Please allow 1 hour 10 minutes to complete the session. In this recorded session of a live training event, we explore the importance of securing children’s understanding of what a sentence is, alongside tried-and-tested approaches for teaching punctuation effectively in Reception and Key Stage 1. The session focuses on building strong foundations that support confident writing from the very start. During this training, we will explore: - Essential subject knowledge around sentence construction for KS1 teachers and Teaching Assistants. - Active strategies and whole-school approaches to developing secure understanding of sentence construction in Reception and KS1. - Practical techniques for teaching the range of punctuation needed to meet the expected standard and achieve greater depth by the end of Key Stage 1.
